IDTA MUSICAL THEATRE – Recommended age 10-15.
Musical theatre classes develop all three performing arts: acting, singing and dancing. Our advanced level Musical Theatre class follows the IDTA Musical Theatre syllabus.
Each class will feature:
- an age specific warm up
- a selection of tongue twisters
- dramatic piece
- musical theatre piece
- terminology section
The class prepares students for moving onto our higher level courses. It builds on projection, diction and tuning skills learnt in the earlier stage classes. Classes combine dramatic skills and musical skills inline with the syllabus, covering vocal, movement and creative work. This course is ideal for both would be actors, actresses and performers. Dedicated beginners are welcome to attend and private tuition is available for those needing additional support. Prior learning is recognised throughout the school, and can be notified to our Diploma Co-ordinator, Natalie.
Current classwork includes: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, developing routines for a script and Dear Evan Hansen.
Join us alternate Saturdays from 07/10/17 – 10:30 to 11:30 at Waitrose Community Room, London Road, Worcester. There is lots of free parking, a lovely cafe as well as a restaurant and other options. Please sign in at the front desk to take advantage of free parking. The nature of these classes make it ideal for blended families and time poor teens. We do not stop for half terms and classes will run up to and including 16th December 2017
Students are to wear our uniform with black leggings in this class. Comfortable, flexible footwear should also be worn – we can not teach bare foot for insurance purposes. Shoes are available to order from class for a wide range of performing styles.
Students on this course would be studying for IDTA levels Bronze-Gold Bar 3 either as a solo or as a duet, trio or team. There are also performance opportunities for students both with school productions as well as other local theatre groups. You are also welcome to use this class as part of your Diploma and Extended Certificate studies. There are already two students in this class doing this, and they are happy to buddy up .
